- Formulate, review, and implement policies, strategies, plans, standards, programmes and projects on renewable energy, energy efficiency, energy conservation, and emerging technologies.
- Provide strategic guidance and technical input to national energy planning, climate change mitigation, and sustainable initiatives;
- Conduct feasibility studies, resource assessments and techno-economic analysis for clean energy investments;
- Monitor and evaluate the performance and impact of policies, programmes, and projects to ensure effectiveness and compliance;
- Provide technical expertise in design, installation, testing, validation and operation of renewable energy and energy-efficient systems to ensure quality and safety;
- Promote energy efficiency initiatives through conducting energy audits;
- Conduct research, development, and innovation in renewable energy, energy efficiency, bio-energy, and emerging technologies to support national decision-making;
- Promote the adoption, local development and scale up of modern emerging technologies through public awareness and behavioural change;
- Provide capacity building on Renewable energy technologies (Solar Technology, Energy Efficiency, Clean cooking, Biogas, etc) to stakeholders;
- Coordinate with government agencies, private sector, academia, communities, and development partners on sustainable energy initiatives;
- Facilitate regional and international cooperation, partnerships, and knowledge exchange on renewable energy, energy efficiency, and innovation;
- Promote investment in projects, private sector participation, and sustainable financing mechanisms for sustainable energy solutions; and
- Promote and support the development, regulation, and integration of sustainable bioenergy and biofuels feedstock programmes.
