  1. Develop, review, and update national power and energy policies, strategies, and regulatory frameworks to advance energy security, sustainability, and universal access;
  2. Conduct electricity demand and supply forecasting, scenario development and modeling, to inform generation planning, grid infrastructure upgrades, and renewable energy integration;
  3. Maintain up-to-date database to support energy planning, policy formulation, and investment decision-making;
  4. Identify priority power projects, prepare investment profiles, and support mobilisation of financing, partnerships, and private-sector participation, including IPPs;
  5. Provide regulatory and compliance oversight to ensure that all projects adhere to applicable legal, safety, environmental, and quality standards;
  6. Track power generation and transmission project implementation progress, assess performance against targets, and adjust plans as needed;
  7. Conduct research, technology assessment, and innovation to advance power systems and emerging energy solutions for long-term sector transformation.
  8. Lead and coordinate rural electrification planning and promote inclusive electrification initiatives;
  9. Coordinate with utilities, private sector, communities, regulators, and development partners to ensure aligned, inclusive, and transparent planning and project delivery; and
  10. Engage in regional and international energy initiatives, including power trade, system integration, and cooperation.
