Hon. Yeukai Simbanegavi serves as the Deputy Minister of Energy and Power Development, providing strategic leadership and oversight in the formulation and implementation of national energy policies and programmes aimed at ensuring sustainable, reliable, and affordable energy supply for all Zimbabweans.
In her role, Hon. Simbanegavi works closely with the Minister, key government agencies, development partners, and private sector stakeholders to advance the Ministry’s mandate of driving energy security, expanding access to modern energy services, and promoting investment in renewable and clean energy technologies.
She plays an instrumental role in overseeing critical subsectors including electricity generation and distribution, petroleum supply management, and rural electrification initiatives. Hon. Simbanegavi is also a strong advocate for gender inclusivity and youth participation in the energy sector, promoting empowerment through innovation and green energy entrepreneurship.
Before her current appointment, Hon. Simbanegavi served as Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture, and later as Deputy Minister of National Housing and Social Amenities. These roles provided her with extensive experience in policy formulation, community development, infrastructure planning, stakeholder coordination, and youth empowerment. Her leadership in these ministries strengthened her understanding of national development dynamics, inter-ministerial collaboration, and the importance of inclusive participation in public programmes — key skills that continue to inform her work in advancing Zimbabwe’s energy transformation agenda.
Her vision is to see Zimbabwe achieve universal access to energy, anchored on renewable sources, improved efficiency, and strong local participation in the energy value chain — in line with Vision 2030 and the National Development Strategy.
